2012 Christmas Bird Counts
Each year the Denver Field Ornithologists and National Audubon Society sponsor the Annual Denver Christmas Count. The counts this year will be held December 17, 2011 (58th Annual Denver Christmas Bird Count) and January 1, 2012 (Denver Urban Christmas Count). Joey Kellner is the 58th Annual Denver count leader/compiler; Hugh Kingery is the Denver Urban Count leader compiler.
Each count finishes with a potluck and sharing of the days observations and experiences. The 58th count summation will be 5 pm December 17 at the Carson Nature Reserve (Santa Fe & Mineral Ave, between the Light Rail parking and the Platte River). On January 1, 2012, the Denver Urban Count will meet at 5 pm after the count for a potluck at Casey Davenhill’s home, 415 S. High Street (5 blocks west of University, about 2 blocks south of Alameda)
